The Lygon Arms Hotel is an old coaching inn which sits in the heart of Broadway village – often called ‘the jewel of the Cotswolds’ – and boasts a rich history. The General Manager is fully responsible for all aspects of the hotel, restaurants, bar & lounge, kitchens, meeting rooms and spa, effectively managing all resources.

Our ideal candidate will have substantial previous experience in General Management, at similar level luxury hotel. You will have a proven track record of identifying opportunities, delivering projects and change management, as well as having strong commercial awareness. 

As General Manager you will:

  • Take ownership for delivering the annual budget by driving sales, focusing on revenue opportunities and controlling all costs to ensure that the budgeted GOP percentage is achieved.
  • Responsible for the creation and delivery of the hotel’s business objectives, ensuring that these are reviewed and monitored as part of the departmental monthly strategic meetings
  • Confident in leading the management team, be representative of modern management practises, and indirectly supervise of employees of the hotel promoting a positive, engaging, and competent service culture in all areas of the business
  • Achieve budgeted financial performance in all areas of the business
  • Continue to develop the quality of service and experience of the hotel whilst constantly evolving the offering to keep up with guest demands and stay ahead of the competition

  • Possess 4/5 star experience or similar level
  • Have the ability to coach, lead and inspire the team

  • Be a quick thinker and highly motivated to do better at all times

As General Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Delivering the annual budget by driving sales, focusing on revenue opportunities and controlling all costs to ensure that the budgeted GOP percentage is achieved
  • Provide a level of management and leadership presence that instils confidence in the individual, the team and the members
  • Effectively communicate the vision, purpose, and objectives to the team by inspiring and empowering them to deliver excellence whilst achieving the budget
  • Continue to develop the quality of service and experience of the hotel whilst constantly evolving the offering to keep up with guest demands and stay ahead of the competition
  • Be passionate in creating an atmosphere of excellence within the Hotel – establishing high level of expectations and empowering the team to deliver
  • Help others understand the drivers of the Hotel’s financial success and commercial strategy
  • Facilitates organisational change initiatives; leads and supports staff in seizing opportunities to improve the performance of the Hotel and continues to demonstrate world-class service to guests
  • Effectively recruit, develop and retain a talented and diverse workforce in conjunction with the on-site and central HR team
  • Aligns department goals and resources to meet the performance and financial objectives of the hotel
